| Idroscalo Club, which
next year will be organizing from the 1st to the 5th of September
the “Canoe polo Seniors & Under 21 World Championships”, on behalf of the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation, taking up the suggestion launched to sporty people by “Milan european capital of sport 2009”, has meant, by giving life to this nationally and internationally important event, both to put itself to test and to offer to the public of the Milan area the chance to know better and to appreciate this spectacular ball played discipline, where the players, in competition on their canoes on the water, are the protagonists. The Club, located in Idroscalo, is active in the organization on the basin, which was created as stop over for hydroplanes but promptly dedicated to sports, of several big canoe events starting with the World Championships1999, two European Championships in 2001 and 2008 (the latter valid for the olympic qualification in Beijing) and manyWorld Cups, and for several years in mars the organization, as competitive season opening, of a much appreciated 10.000 mt. Europe Cup. Finally, every year, as season closure, the Club gives life to the Italian Flatwater Championship for Senior, Junior, Paddle Ability athletes. Numerous have also been the regional tournaments that the association has carried out, and all this has been possible mainly thanks to the essential contribution of the Provincia of Milan, owner of the basin, of the Regione Lombardia and of the Comune of Milan. |
