Dear Friends of the wonderful world of Canoeing,
It is with great honor and sincere pleasure that I am hereby sending you this invitation regarding the ICF Dragon Boat World Championships to be held from August 30th to September 2nd this year in Milan. The event will be promoted by the Idroscalo Club which is one of the most prestigious and experienced Italian clubs internationally known.
Many successful canoeing events have been staged by the Idroscalo Club such as the ICF World Championships in 1999 and the European Championships in 2001 and 2008 for Sprint; the ICF Polo World Championships in 2010. In the near future, the Idroscalo Club will be organizing the ICF Sprint World Championships where paddlers will try to qualify for Rio 2016. The above link is already included in the ICF and Italian Federation’s websites. Together with the ICF Dragon Boat Championships, we are going to organize a “Dragon Boat World Festival“ for Clubs.
Furthermore, our local O.C. Organizing Committee will give space to other canoeing disciplines such as Polynesian Canoeing and Surfsky.
Particular consideration will be given to Paracanoeing and those brave Women who have undergone surgery for breast cancer and are now trying to be back with a regular life.
This should be considered a global commitment to exploit the ethical quality of our wonderful sport.
Please, advertise as much as possible our outstanding program and make sure that there will be a wide participation.

 I am proud for giving hospitality, at Idroscalo, to the «Dragon Boat 2012» world championship, that will combine passion for sport with showing. We will be honoured for admiring 1.800 athletes, men and women, who will come from 25 states. They will exhibit aboard to the famous Chinese boats (decorated with a dragon head positioned in the bow) making the public amazed. In effect, this event is a curious international championship. Moreover, it precedes Water ski world championship for disabled (2013) and able-bodied (2015) and sprint canoe world championship (2015).
I am glad to appreciate its social value too. In fact, during the International club festival, disable people and women who had surgery for breast cancer could also exhibit in special competitions.
«Dragon Boat 2012» demonstrates Province of Milan pays attention to the Park: it is necessary to remember Idroscalo will be the second Expo 2015 platform. It already represents a family friendly place and also a wellness area for citizens who just intend to relax and for people who like doing sport activities at agonistic or amateur level..

 A significant event has to be happen at Idroscalo lake in Milan!!!
For the first time we shall have the opportunity to held the World Champion Ships of Dragon Boat, that will take place on 28 August – 2 September 2012.
Idroscalo Club will take care for organization and as President, I have the pleasure to invite all of you to participate.
Sure of a large experience in the organization of special event, we will be very glad to offer you the best assistance in order to give you a comfortable and suitable participation.
The event will be added with other races of new paddle sports : Polynesian canoe, surf Sky, Stand -up and at the end Festival Dragon Boat Race for Clubs.
