2008 it’s
the seventieth anniversary of athletic canoe
birth in Italy and it happened exactly at the Idroscalo where
the Milanese canoe group was born.
The European Canoe Association entrusted the Italian Canoe
Kayak Federation with the organization of these Championships,
it recognized the importance of this event, moreover it trusts this
Organization Committee, the Idroscalo Club, that on this regatta
course has already organized the World Championships 1999,
the European Championships 2001, a test of the World Cup
2002 and many other important events and Italian Championships,
thanks to the support of the Province of Milan, owner
of the place; the Region of Lombardy and the Town Hill of Milan.

These Championships that
take place from 15th to 18th May
represent the last opportunity of qualifications for Beijing 2008,
as a matter of fact on this occasion the first classified boat
belonging to those Countries which did not get the qualification
during the World Cup 2007 held in Duisburg, will still able
to qualify.
Even for disabled people who compete in our sport,
these European Championships represent the great occasion
for obtaining the admission to the Canoe Paraolympic Games
in London 2012. In fact this dream will come true if teams
coming from at least 9 countries will compete at the Idroscalo. |
